Marisa Adesman

An artist finding the extraordinary in everyday things

Their story

Marisa Adesman is the eldest child of Andrew Adesman, MD, and Angela Romano-Adesman, MD, and the sister of Danielle Adesman, PA-C, and Jason. She earned a BFA in painting and psychology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013 and an MFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design in 2018. [F3] [F5] [S21]

Her paintings transform familiar domestic objects into strange, theatrical scenes. In a university interview, she connects this work to unseen domestic labor and women's experience. Her exhibitions include The Birth of Flowers at KMAC Contemporary Art Museum in Louisville in 2023, and Under the Rose, her first New York solo exhibition, at Anat Ebgi in 2025. [S22] [S24] [S23]
